The Quantum Initiative aims to strengthen research and education in Quantum Information Science and Technology, also known as “Quantum 2.0”, at the University of Miami.
The success of Quantum Physics has led to many key technologies such as computers, lasers, GPS, MRI, etc., laying the foundation for today’s high-tech society as we know it. We are now at the verge of the second Quantum revolution, or “Quantum 2.0”. This emerging technological era, driven by Quantum Information Science and Technology (QIST), promises next-generation advancements in sensing, computing, modeling, and communication, which can be transformative in many fields such as internet security, AI, drug discovery, and workforce development.
The Quantum Initiative will catalyze and support “Quantum 2.0” research and education efforts among UM faculty and students, advancing cutting-edge research in QIST and preparing students to be “quantum ready”.
